AAP’s Historic Victory in J&K: Wins Doda Seat for the First Time


Srinagar: The Aam Aadmi Party opened its account in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time, winning the Doda seat. AAP candidate Mehraj Malik, 36, won the seat by a huge margin of 4,770 votes. BJP candidate Gajay Singh Rana came in the second position.

This the first time that the party has won its seat in the union territory.


Mehraj Malik is District Devloper Counselor. He had declared assets worth Rs 29070 in his nomination papers. He also has six criminal cases registered against him

Voter turnout

The assembly elections in the Valley of Jammu and Kashmir saw an overall voter turnout of 63.88%, with 64.88% of male voters and 63.04% of female voters casting their ballots.
