MUMBAI: A bustling Monday evening at Kurla’s Bhaji market in Mumbai turned into chaos when an out-of-control BEST bus crashed into pedestrians and multiple vehicles, leaving seven dead and over three dozen injured.
The horrifying incident occurred when the speeding bus swerved across a 200-meter stretch, causing panic among motorists and pedestrians as it plowed through the busy area.
CCTV footage from nearby cameras captured the devastating scene as the bus wreaked havoc, smashing into several vehicles before hitting pedestrians.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus, which was being driven by Sanjay More, lost control while traveling through Kurla West.
After hitting people and cars, the bus continued its deadly path and eventually crashed into a residential complex in Buddha Colony, where it finally came to a stop.
The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking confirmed that the driver had lost control of the vehicle. More has since been detained by police for questioning.
In response to the accident, Mumbai police have closed SG Barve Marg, a critical route connecting Kurla station, to prevent further traffic congestion.
This road is one of the busiest in the area, with many commuters using buses to reach destinations like Bandra-Kurla Complex.

A crowded BEST bus on Route 332, traveling from Kurla to Andheri, lost control near the White House building and crashed into multiple vehicles and pedestrians before hitting the entrance of Ambedkar Nagar. The accident involved several autorickshaws, motorcycles, and around 10 pedestrians.
