Babar Azam Shouts at Haris Rauf After PAK Pacer Fails to Defend 15 Runs Against USA

Pakistan men’s cricket team captain Babar Azam was seen getting angry and losing his cool at teammate Haris Rauf after the star pacer failed to defend 15 runs in the final over of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 match against the United States on Thursday (June 6). The USA needed 15 runs to win the Group A match against the Babar Azam-led side, and Aaron Jones (36*) joined hands with Nitish Kumar (14*) to score 14 runs and take the match to a super over.

Jones hammered a six on the fourth ball of the 20th over, and Nitish scored a boundary on the last ball to stun the Pakistani team and their fans present at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. After Nitish scored four on the final ball to take the match to the super-over, Babar was seen getting angry and shouting at Haris. The video of the Pakistan captain’s angry reaction is now going viral on the internet.

In the Super-Over, the United States scored 18 runs for the loss of one wicket, and then Saurabh Netravalkar sealed the game for the Monank Patel-led side by conceding only 13 runs. The five-run win over Pakistan was the USA's second straight win in the T20 World Cup 2024, and with four points, the co-hosts sit in the No. 1 position in the Group A points table.

For his 50-run knock from 38 balls, USA skipper Monank Patel won the Player of the Match award, and he will now hope India beat Pakistan on Sunday (June 9) because that will boost the USA's chances of qualifying for the Super 8s.

The United States will finish above Pakistan in the Group A points table and progress to the next round if they win at least one of the remaining two Group A matches and Pakistan loses against India on June 9.
