employee working under the Karnataka government was stabbed to death at her residence in Bengaluru on Saturday. The 37-year-old geologist — identified as Pratima — was a Deputy Director in the Mines and Geology Department of Karnataka.
According to an India Today report, the accused broke into the victim’s house and fatally stabbed her. Pratima was alone at home at the time as her spouse had gone to his hometown, Teerthahalli, for a visit.
Pratima was dropped at her home around 8 pm last night, following which there was radio silence on her part as her brother called her several times. When he came to check on her on Sunday morning, he found her dead.
A case has been registered in this regard and officials have said that efforts to track down the attackers are underway. It is suspected that the accused might be familiar to Pratima, officials noted.
Four days ago, a 32-year-old woman was stabbed to death in Maharashtra’s Thane by her nephew. However, her 11-year-old son managed to escape the attack by hiding in their flat’s bathroom.
The incident took place in a housing society in the Mira Road area in the afternoon, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I), Jayant Bajbale.
The 22-year-old accused allegedly stabbed her to death with a knife and was nabbed by the residents while he trying to flee the scene. Though she was rushed to a nearby hospital by her neighbours, she was declared brought dead.
