Can Rat Miners Help in the Telangana Tunnel Collapse Rescue Operation?

Telangana Tunnel Collapse Rescue Live Updates: Eight workers remain trapped in the debris after the SLBC tunnel in Telangana partially collapsed on Saturday. Now, a team of rat miners have been included in the rescue team to extricate the workers trapped under the collapsed portion of the tunnel. Notably, these are the same rat miners who were deployed in the rescue team of the Silkyara tunnel collapse in Uttarakhand almost two years ago.

Telangana Tunnel Rescue Live Updates: Telangana Minister Jupally Krishna Rao said that the chances of survival of the eight persons are "very remote", though every effort is being made to reach them, news agency PTI reported. According to the minister, rescuing the trapped individuals would take at least three to four days, as the site of the collapse is filled with muck and debris, making it a "daunting task for the rescuers",

Rescue efforts so far: A massive rescue operation has been underway, which involves around 300 trained personnel, including 128 from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), 120 from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), 23 from Singareni Collieries and 24 from the Army, to bring the trapped men out. While rescuers have reached over 13 km inside the tunnel, the water and slush in the next few hundred metres have prevented the rescuers from getting to the trapped men,
