Neha Sharma began her acting career with a Telugu film titled Chirutha in 2007. Later, she forayed into Bollywood with Crook (2010) where she was paired opposite Emraan Hashmi. However, her appearance in films in the last few years have become quite sporadic. This year, she returned to the big screen with Jogira Sara Ra Ra co-starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui as a leading actor after many years. However, the film failed to create ripples at the box office.
As Neha turns 36 today, we take you back to the time when she admitted that it’s a ‘constant struggle to do films’ in Bollywood. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, the birthday girl told us, “You’ve end number of films being cast for and sometimes you don’t even know when they’re being cast for. Suppose, there are five films being cast for and you can audition for those five, but sometimes you may not end up getting all of them but just one. It’s not like there are hundred decent scripts that come my way.”
Neha went on to point out that her options have become less and she only gets to choose from that limited pool of scripts she gets approached for. “Five decent scripts come to me and I need to pick out of them. Sometimes I don’t want to be a part of something and sometimes, they don’t want me to be in it. So, for everything to work out, the options are very little. There was a lot of pressure on everybody when it came to theatrical releases. But now that the times have changed, there will be more work for everybody hopefully,” she stated.
According to Neha, what further added to lesser options and opportunities are influencers walking away with a large piece of the pie now that they’ve begun to act in films. The Mubarakan (2017) and Teri Meri Kahaani (2012) actor, in fact, revealed that she also found herself being replaced at the last moment with an influencer who had an incredible follower base on social media and that it ‘shocked’ her
