On Tuesday, a Member of Parliament from the opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), Meekail Ahmed Naseem (MP for South Galolhu), moved the Majlis (Parliament) to summon the foreign minister to seek an explanation over what had transpired. The MP has also demanded a hearing of the three deputy ministers who were suspended for the anti-Modi posts.
