Delhi to Reel Under Heatwave Today, Relief Likely From Tomorrow


Severe heatwave conditions accompanied by dry weather will continue in many parts of the country till June 1, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said adding that heatwave conditions will gradually decrease in the next 2–3 days.

"Heatwave to severe heat wave conditions at most places in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, at many places in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and at isolated places over Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh," the weather department said.


"Warm night conditions at isolated places over Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh and Uttar Pradesh. Thunderstorm/lightning in isolated places in Uttarakhand accompanied by gusty winds (speed 40-50 KMPH)," it added.   

Delhi which on Wednesday recorded India's highest-ever temperature with the mercury reaching 52.9 degrees Celsius at the city's Mungeshpur weather station.
