Evolution of Modern Warfare with Rudra Chopper

DELHI: The aviation unit of the Indian Army on Sunday successfully tested the new generation rocket and turret ammunition system from the Rudra attack helicopter, the first home-grown attack chopper.

The army's Spear Corps posted a video on X, formerly known as Twitter, showing the heads-up display (HUD) of the attack helicopter Rudra while "raining fire and steel"

Rudra is the weaponised version of the Advanced Light Helicopter (Dhruv) designed and developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to meet the requirements of Indian Army and Air Force. The multi role helicopter of 5.8 Ton class is powered by two Shakti Engines.

The HAL Rudra helicopter can be deployed in a wide range of missions, including reconnaissance, troop transport, anti-tank warfare, and close air support.

The Army currently has over 180 Dhruvs, which includes around 60 Rudras, while the IAF has 75, Navy 23 and Coast Guard 18. HAL contends the advanced light helicopter (ALH), is “a proven helicopter” that has proved its mettle in various utility roles.
