The Indian automotive scene is gearing up for a thrilling spectacle as the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 prepares to kick off from January 17 to 22. Major automakers are gearing up to showcase their latest innovations. Here's a closer look at the potential show-stoppers.
Mahindra BE 6
With a bold design language, cutting-edge features, and a focus on performance, the BE 6 is likely to attract attention. The Mahindra BE 6e will be available with two battery pack options â a 59kWh unit and a 79kWh unit, both featuring Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. The 59kWh variants produce 228hp, while the 79kWh variants deliver 281hp, with torque rated at 380Nm for both. Mahindra claims a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds for the higher-spec variant. The larger battery pack provides an ARAI-claimed range of 682km, while the smaller battery pack offers an ARAI-certified range of 535km. Mahindra is offering a lifetime warranty on the battery pack and claims that it can charge from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes using a 175kW DC fast charger. Standard charging options include an 11.2kW AC charger (0-100% in 8hrs/6hrs for 79kWh/59kWh) or a 7.3kW AC charger (0-100% in 11.7hrs/8.7hrs for 79kWh/59kWh), which must be purchased separately.
Hyundai Creta EV
The Hyundai Creta, is set to make its debut in an electric avatar, a decade after the launch of its internal combustion engine (ICE) version. The upcoming Hyundai Creta Electric will offer two battery pack options â 42kWh and 51.4kWh, paired with two motor configurations: a 99kW (135PS) motor and a 126kW (171PS) motor.
The claimed range for the Creta EV stands at 390km on a full charge with the 42kWh battery pack and 473km with the 51.4kWh battery pack. Charging times are impressive, with a 10-100% charge achievable in just 4 hours using an 11kW connected wall box charger (AC home charging). For faster charging, a DC fast charger can juice up the battery from 10-80% in just 58 minutes.
Inside, the Creta Electric boasts a premium dual-tone interior theme in Granite Grey and Dark Navy, complemented by Ocean Blue ambient lighting around the console. The cabin features dual 10.25-inch curvilinear displays â one for infotainment and the other for the digital cluster â as well as a unique three-spoke EV-specific steering wheel with Morse code detailing. Additional highlights include touch-enabled dual automatic temperature control, offering a modern and luxurious feel.
Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Another showstopper at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 is the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the brand's first-ever electric SUV. The e Vitara is built on the Heartect-e platform, engineered specifically for battery electric vehicles (BEVs). As part of the global Suzuki-Toyota alliance, Maruti Suzuki will also offer the e Vitara to Toyota for the Indian market. The e Vitara was recently unveiled by Suzuki in Milan, Italy, giving us a detailed look at its specifications. It comes with two LFP battery pack options â 49kWh and 61kWh â and two drive system configurations: front-wheel drive (FWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD).
The 49kWh battery is exclusive to the FWD variant, featuring a motor output of 106kW (142bhp) and 189Nm of torque. The FWD version with the 61kWh battery offers a motor output of 128kW (172bhp) and 189Nm of torque. The AWD variant is equipped with a 61kWh battery and delivers a combined motor output of 135kW (181bhp), with the front motor generating 128kW (172bhp) and the rear motor producing 48kW (64bhp), along with 300Nm of torque.
While the official range figures are yet to be disclosed, expectations are high, with estimates suggesting the e Vitara could achieve over 500km on a single charge.
