How can city officials alleviate traffic congestion on Electronics City flyover in Bengaluru?

BENGALURU: Torrential rains and traffic chaos have once again crippled Bengaluru, leaving frustrated residents with no choice but to ditch their cars and walk home after a massive jam at Electronic City flyover.

Following Wednesday evening’s downpour and severe waterlogging, the Bengaluru traffic police shut down one side of the Electronics City flyover, leading to a two-hour gridlock.

One user voiced her frustration on 'X,' describing the situation as "complete chaos." She wrote, "If there's a medical emergency, survival seems impossible. It took over 2.5 hours to cover just 2 km on the jammed Electronic City flyover."

"Completely jammed from past 1.5 hrs in the Electronic city flyover. I must have reached my home now which is 30kms away. Logged out at 5.20 and we are still stuck! We can see most of the employees of various companies frustrated and starting to walk," wrote another user.

Shilpa Rao, a techie working at E-City Phase I, told TOI: “I left office around 5.30pm and reached home in Jayanagar at 9.30pm. Vehicles didn’t move for two hours. At 7.30pm, it moved for 300 metres and stopped. It took us three hours just to exit the flyover. Many just started walking...”

As Bengaluru battles its recurring rain-induced traffic woes, residents are left wondering if the city can ever find a solution.
