North Korean Soldiers in Ukraine: What’s Behind Their Sudden Presence?

South Korea reports that several North Korean soldiers were more than likely killed in Ukraine. They were sent to help Russia. So reports South Korea's new defense minister.

“We consider it very likely that there were casualties among North Korean officers and soldiers in Ukraine given various circumstances,” the South Korean minister said. Seoul also expects Pyongyang to send more soldiers to the Ukrainian front to support its Russian ally. “The issue of deploying regular troops is very likely because of the mutual agreements (between Moscow and Pyongyang) that resemble a military alliance between Russia and North Korea,” Kim Yong-hyun said. Indeed, North Korea is said to have already delivered thousands of containers full of weapons and missiles to Russia.

Ukrainian media already claimed last weekend that six North Korean officers were killed Thursday in a Ukrainian missile attack near Donetsk, in Russia-occupied eastern Ukraine.
