Speaking to India Today TV/ Aajtak, Singh further added that out of the total cancelled reserved tickets, 4,230 were cancelled in Bareilly, 3,239 tickets were cancelled in Moradabad, 3917 tickets were cancelled in Haridwar, and 2,448 were cancelled in Dehradun, amongst others.
"We cancelled those trains that had low occupancy due to foggy conditions. Even then, 20,000 tickets were cancelled in the Moradabad Division in December 2023..." Singh said.
"42 trains have been cancelled till March. We have also refunded Rs 1.22 crore to people," he added.
Notably, North India has been under the grip of dense fog and cold wave conditions.
In parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttar Pradesh, and East Rajasthan, dense to very dense fog conditions are likely to persist for several hours during the night and morning till January 6.
