Days before announcement of Lok Sabha elections, Congress has suffered another major setback in Maharashtra. Former minister and state working president of Congress, Basavaraj Patil, has resigned from the party. Earlier, ex-CM Ashok Chavan had quit the grand old party.
Some local reports stated that Patil may join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday. He is known as a big leader in the Marathwada region
In the recent past, many senior Maharashtra Congress leaders have left the party, including Ashok Chavan, Milind Deora and Baba Siddiqui. While Chavan has joined BJP, Deora is now with Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena. Both these leaders have been nominated for the Rajya Sabha elections.
On the other hand, Baba Siddiqui has joined the NCP led by deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar
