Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) have announced a temporary closure on both Pune and Mumbai-bound lanes of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

This two-hour block, scheduled for tomorrow, aims to facilitate the setup of overhead gantries.

Starting from noon to 2 PM on December 12, the traffic will be rerouted to the old Mumbai Pune Highway, allowing the installation of these gantries at specific locations: Kusgaon Dheku Village (KM 56/900) and Ozarde Trauma Care Center (KM 74/900)

Travel Alert: Mumbai-Pune Expressway Shutdown for 2 Hours

The Mumbai-Pune Expressway holds the distinction of being the country’s initial access-controlled highway.

Additionally, recent accidents along this expressway have raised concerns. A tragic collision involving a Vaibhav Travels bus and a trailer near Khopoli in Raigad resulted in the bus driver’s demise and severe injuries to six passengers early on Sunday.

Emergency services, including Devdoot Rescue Team, Borghat Police Station, Khopoli Police, Delta Force personnel, Maharashtra Security Force personnel, Lokmanya Hospital ambulances, and a dedicated social organization’s team, promptly responded.

The injured passengers were rushed to MGM Hospital in Panvel for immediate medical care, while the deceased driver underwent postmortem procedures at Khopoli Nagar Palika Hospital.
