Sakshi Agarwal Chooses Kalari for Song in Her Upcoming Malayalam Film

Sakshi Agarwal, who is now playing the lead in a Malayalam crime action-thriller, titled Point 38, trained to perform a Kalari sequence in the film. Says Sakshi, “A song in the film revolves around a couple from the city experiencing the local culture, from performances like Mohiniyattam, Theyyam and Kathakali, to martial art forms like Kalari, and cultural elements like Velichappadu and Pambu Kalam.”

The former Bigg Boss Tamil contestant states that it is for shooting the Kalari sequence that she had to train herself. “In one particular scene, I had to fight against a man three times my size. We trained a lot for the stunts to look natural,” she says.

The actress says that she spent three days practising the postures and movements to perform the Kalari sequence. “This is because performing this art form requires one to be comfortable while holding a real sword. The song will feature me performing a few aspects of Kalari, like Poothara Vandanam, Valveeshu, Adithada, and Meypayattu,” she reveals, and adds, “I consider it a blessing to be able to don some of those traditional costumes; I felt so powerful while performing in them,” she adds
