The Mumbai Police recently informed the Bombay High Court that the forgery case filed against actress Shweta Tiwari by her ex-husband Abhinav Kohli in 2021 has been closed.
According to the Free Press Journal, the Mumbai Police submitted an ‘A’ Summary report to the Bombay High Court on December 17, 2024, indicating that while the case against Shweta Tiwari appeared credible, no evidence was found to substantiate the claims. An ‘A’ Summary report is typically filed when a case is considered valid but cannot be proven due to insufficient evidence.
As per reports, following the closure of the case by the Mumbai Police, the court permitted Shweta Tiwari to withdraw her petition seeking the quashing of the FIR filed against her. The court acknowledged the situation and allowed the withdrawal of the petition. The court further stated, "However, it is made clear that both the parties would be at liberty to take out appropriate legal proceedings in accordance with law if an order, adverse to either of the parties, is passed."
Abhinav Kohli lodged a complaint with the BKC police in March 2021, alleging that Shweta Tiwari had forged his signature on a No Objection Certificate (NOC) in order to obtain a UK visa for their son Reyansh. Kohli also contacted the UK embassy in India, which subsequently led to the cancellation of the visa.
Shweta Tiwari was married to Abhinav Kohli, but the couple separated in 2019. They share a son, Reyansh. Prior to her marriage with Abhinav, Shweta was married to Bhojpuri actor Raja Chaudhary. The two divorced in 2007 and have a daughter, Palak Tiwari.
Shweta rose to fame after her role as Prerna in popular daily soap Kasautii Zindagii Kay. She then went on to feature in several shows including Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi, Mere Dad Ki Dulhan and Main Hoon Aparajita. She was last seen in Rohit Shetty's Singham Again as a police officer.
