Shreya Ghoshal and Sunidhi Chauhan broke the internet a few days ago when they came together for a music single, "Chhaila." In an exclusive chat with India Today Digital, Shreya, who is set to be a judge for Indian Idol 15, spoke about collaborating with Sunidhi. She also revealed how the two popular singers are quite alike.
Talking about how they ended up working together on the song, the "Bairi Piya" singer shared that it happened "once upon a time" on a flight back to Mumbai. She explained that they both performed in Dehradun at different college events. Shreya said, "It's very rare that two singers have their concerts on the same day in one city. It was a cosmic intervention that brought us together. We took the same flight back home, and the rest is history."
"We have hung out together before and have always been friends. But on that flight, we had such a blast. We also realised how much we are alike. That's when we questioned why we weren't spending more time together and why we hadn't sung together. I think it was an important flight," Shreya added with a laugh.
She further spoke about the photo she shared of them together and how Salim Merchant reached out to them for the song.
The National Award-winning singer said, "I really wanted to share the photo, and I knew it would create a buzz. This is why I captioned it as 'SC SG break the Internet.' I know how much people wanted this to happen for such a long time. However, no one was making the effort to bring us together. I wanted to wake everyone up, and Salim did take note. He and Sulaiman Merchant were the first ones to reach out, and that's how the song came to life."
