The Delhi Police on Thursday registered an FIR against certain individuals who submitted voter registration applications allegedly using forged documents after an election officer wrote to the police, directing them to register the case.
An Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) flagged four suspicious applications during routine verification, citing the submission of forged documents as proof of identity and address. The complaint highlighted serious instances of forgery in voter ID card applications, where four individuals allegedly submitted fake documents for new voter registration and address changes, the officials said.
,..it has been found that the aforementioned applicants have attempted to deceive the authorities by tampering with documents, including Aadhaar cards and electricity bills, as proof of identity and residence. This constitutes a serious offence, as the applicants have intentionally provided false information and documents to manipulate the electoral roll," the electoral officer, in his letter to the police, said.
