Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that the weather in Northern states is expected to change drastically in the upcoming few days. It said that several states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab are likely to receive light to heavy rain over next week. It also warned that these states are also likely to experience dense fog, especially in the early hours of the day.
Though the temperature in Delhi-NCR has increased over the past few days, the weather condition is going to change very soon. The weather department confirmed that two upcoming western disturbances are going to have a great impact on the weather. While several of the regions are expected to receive heavy rainfall, dense fog will impact the visibility in the other areas.
Over the past few weeks, several flights and trains operating from Delhi got delayed or cancelled due to the dense fog. While providing the details, weather department stated that the first western disturbance is likely to get active from January 29. Besides, the second western disturbance is likely to arrive on February 1. The IMD stated that the northern states are expected to receive rainfall from January 29 to February 1.
Several of the southern states, including Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh are too expected to receive heavy rainfall in the upcoming days. Apart from this, Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh are expected to receive fresh spell of rain from Jan 29 to Feb 1, leading to a possible dip in the temperature.
The IMD stated that while the weather in the central region of the country is not likely to change in the upcoming two days, the temperature in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra is likely to rise by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius in the upcoming week.
