Mahindra and Mahindra has announced the integration of Dolby Atmos technology into its electric-origin SUVs, BE 6 and XEV 9e, marking Dolby's debut collaboration with an Indian carmaker.
This collaboration brings an enhanced in-car audio experience to the customers of the two electric SUVs, enabling them to enjoy immersive sound through Gaana, the streaming platform embedded in the infotainment system.
The BE 6 and XEV 9e features a premium audio setup with 16 Harman Kardon speakers. The front seats are equipped with three-way speakers comprising a tweeter, mid-range driver, and woofer, while the centre incorporates Harman's patented unity speaker design. Rear surround speakers provide mid-range sound, complemented by a subwoofer and two ceiling-mounted speaker drivers.
The base variant of the BE 6e, Pack One, is priced at Rs 18.90 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom), while the Pack One of the XEV 9e is priced at Rs 21.90 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom). Pack One offers the most basic feature set in both electric SUVs. The complete price list will be announced at a later date.
The larger XEV 9e offers a 663-litre boot along with a 150-litre frunk. In comparison, the BE 6e features a 455-litre boot and a 45-litre frunk.
Mahindra is offering the BE 6e and XEV 9e with two battery pack packs - 59kWh and 79kWh. These LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery packs are backed by 35 patent applications filed by Mahindra.
The BE 6e and XEV 9e, equipped with the 79kWh battery pack, boast an ARAI-certified range (MIDC phase 1 + 2) of 682km and 656km, respectively. Mahindra claims that in city conditions, with the AC turned on, the 79kWh battery pack delivers a range of over 500km. Using a 175kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes.
