Bengaluru: Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) workers have called for a nationwide strike from December 31 over unpaid dues. The workers have the support of the unions. They are pushing for the Karnataka government to clear their areas, which amount to over 2000 crores, including salary hikes and gratuity payments.
The strike is expected to disrupt bus services across the state. The strike was announced after the state government failed to address the demands for salary increases and arrears payments, resulting in growing unrest amongst the employees of the four major transport corporations.
The union pointed out that workers were given their dues, including a promised salary hike, which has not happened and arrears in the previous hike they received. The workers will begin Belagavi Chalo movement on December 8 and 9. They will march towards Suvarna Sauda in Belgavi.
